Showcase Travel Photography

There is a new photography trick I am practicing. I don’t know what it is called, but I would like make the focused subject look like a tiny toy. I got this photo at Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. When our cruise ship leave the harbor, Mexico Federation solider are stand by and check up with any illegal activities. So I snap this shot and used Photoshop magic to blur the sea water around the little boat. The boat is not the primary subject in the photo and stand out from the rest of the sea water. It somehow looks tiny.

Mini Federation Mexico

I am not sure if you can see it the same way, but this won’t be the last phone I will do to minimize the object.

Thanks to Kristi from Photostry.com! This type of photography is called Tilt-Shift Effect.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my life. This is our last stop on the Mexico Cruise vacation in 2006. Cabo San Lucas is well known of his “Land’s End” nickname. The lover’s beach is also really famous. Since that trip, we’ve Cabo few times. We saw different color and theme every time. The following photo was taken in the early morning at about 5:30AM, while my wife and most people are still sleeping in their room. I am so glad that I got up early. Otherwise, this photo will not exist. You can find this photo on many page on my personal blog. I created a header image out of it on the about page.

Cabo San Lucas

You probably see the following picture all over the Internet. It’s very famous. It looks like a dinosaur is drinking the water. I actually don’t remember the name of this place. You can get on a small boat and land on the lover’s beach on the other side of these rocks.

Cabo San Lucas

The lover’s beach is the only place in the world that has two ocean on both side. It will only take you less than 5 minutes to cross from one side to the other side. The rocks on the beach looks like lovers hugging each other.

Cabo San Lucas Lover's Beach

I would not call this really photography, but they are burned into my memory forever. If you don’t go there once in your lifetime, you would not understand what I mean. My life is good since then. You can read more about my Mexico travel story in the past on my personal blog.

Wave Runner

This Water jetski was taken at Ixtapa, Mexico in 2006. The beach is so quiet. The interesting thing is that we have to take a taxi from the cruise ship harbor. It took us 45 minutes to get to the beach. It was a scary ride, because we don’t speak any Spanish and the driver don’t speak any English. So we were so afraid got lost and taken to somewhere dangerous. The cities in between are all very poor and dirty.

Luckily, the drive are very nice. It was a great ride. That makes me live Mexico and their people.

Little Boats Acapulco

I really like how the boats are lined up. Especially, there is a small white boat at in the water. If I have the Photomatix Pro at that time, I can really turn this photo into a great HDR image. This photo was taken at Acapulco, Mexico. The first stop of our Mexico Cruise trip in 2006. This was taken by my Nikon D70S.

This lighthouse is located at the harbor in Los Angels. We were on our cruise trip to Mexico in 2006.  I saw this lighthouse in the middle of nowhere outside the harbor. I guess whoever worked at the place have a long walk.Lighthouse Log Angels

This photo was taken with my Nikon D70S. You will see some new photos post in the coming days about my Mexico trip.

I really like photos of Kids, because they are so innocent. Their facial expression often made me smile. They are the future. I took my niece Jassie’s photo at my uncle-in-law’s big house in LA in 2006. She is such a sweet baby and laugh maker. I do believe she will rule the world one way or the other. There are several shots in this post.

Which one you like most?

Jessie Rules

The following photo just make me laugh. She looks like the boss of big corporation. She rules everything. 🙂 This is my favorite one!

Jessie Rules

What a happy boss, isn’t she? She said “Let’s get the profit report. We are doing very well this year. You all are making me very happy!” 🙂

Jessie Rules

Once again, she proves she got the talent, skills and power to rule the world.

Jessie Rules

She is also very creative. She can play piano too!Jessie and Piano

All these photos are taken by my old Nikon D70S with flash light. I am really happy about the result. Without any retouching or adjustment, they looks fantastic. I was not really seriously interested in portrait photography until I got the Nikon SB-600 Speedlight flashlight.

Again, which photo do you like most?

Really. This is my all time favorite photo. It was a life time experience to hike in the #1 Yellow Mountain in China. The west sea trail is breath taking. I have no idea how people built the hiking trail on the cliff. I even wrote few blog posts about the lifetime experience of hiking in the Yellow Mountain.

Yellow Mountain China

It took us 9 hours to finish the hike. There is pretty much only two of us on the whole trail, because it’s so tough to bring the tourism to this area. We also enjoy 4 seasons in one day. Although we did not see the sun rise due to the weather condition, we had our best hike ever in our life. We survived!

This photo was taken by my Nikon D70S in 2006. I took about 1200 photos within that 9 hours. The truth is this. Once you hike in Yellow Mountain, you hike all the mountain in China. That’s why it’s the #1 mountain in China.

That was actually a scary hike. It’s a huge physical challenge to many people. This is also one of the reasons no tourism around here. If something happens to you, no one will be able to rescue you.

Yellow Mountain Hike

Here is another scary one! My wife stood on a little bridge. The bottom is 400m deep below and the summit is 200m above.

Yellow Mountain Hike

I highly recommend everyone to visit Yellow Mountain and give yourself a lifetime hiking experience.

Once is enough, twice will be awesome!

Read my blog post to see if you are capable to hike in Yellow Mountain.

Sheriff On the Train

This is an accident shot when we took the train to Grand Canyon, Arizona. He is actor who play the sheriff who is trying to catch the robberies. He came suddenly before I was ready to take a shot. So his face was cut off, but that make this photo so special. I was surprised that he looked at me and say “Shoot me!” Ok. I got it. So I pickup the camera and shoot.
